Greeting his hosts, Patriarch Kirill expressed sincere joy at setting foot on soil that is close to the Russian heart.
I feel at home, the patriarch of Moscow and all Russia said.
The unity of faith and culture, the very close historical ties, the blood shed together for joint victories – all that connects our nations strongly, Patriarch Kirill said.
Earlier on, Patriarch Irinej bid welcome to Patriarch Kirill and said that he wants him to feel in Belgrade and among the Serbian people as amongst his own.
We are two brotherly nations, our relations have always been brotherly, and our hopes have always relied on imperial Russia and present-day Russia alike, and it always came when it was needed the most, the Serbian patriarch said.
Patriarch Kirill’s three-day visit is customary among churches, and is a return visit following Patriarch Irinej’s visit to Russia.
