OSCE Chairperson Dačić condemns deadly attack on peace rally in Turkey

BELGRADE, 10 October 2015 - The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, today strongly condemned  the explosions targeting a peace rally in the Turkish capital, Ankara, that killed at least 80 and injured more than 180 people. He deeply regretted the loss of lives and offered his condolences to the victims, their families and the Turkish government and people.
“I condemn in the strongest terms the violence that disrupted a peaceful event,” Dačić said, and called for calm in the wake of this deadly attack.
“We should not allow violence and fear to endanger the fundamental human rights, including the freedom of assembly,” he said. “The OSCE stands united against violent extremism of all varieties, as we firmly believe co-operation is the best response to the dangers our societies are facing.”
