BELGRADE – Belgrade’s liaison officer in Pristina Dejan Pavicevic on Monday responded to Pristina’s request that Kosovo Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci be allowed to visit Belgrade by indicating that there is a final conviction against Thaci and that he would be taken to a competent court, it was confirmed to Tanjug in the Office for Kosovo-Metohija.
All Serbian citizens are equal before the law – in view of the Serbian legal system and the fact that the conviction against Thaci is legally binding, he would be detained at first contact with any law enforcement service and taken to the competent court, the Office for Kosovo-Metohija said.
On July 11, 1997, the District Court in Pristina sentenced Thaci in absentia to 10 years in prison and the conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court of Serbia on March 12, 1999.
The Youth Education Committee has invited Kosovo’s prime minister to a conference titled European Integration of the Western Balkans – We Can Do Better Together, which the NGO is to organise in Belgrade on April 24
