Serbia: Construction of a luxury complex in Belgrade has begun

BELGRADE – Construction of a modern luxury tourist complex, that will be located between the Belgrade Fortress and the sports center “Milan Gale Muskatirovic”, has begun. The complex will overlook the confluence of the Sava and the Danube.

The famous architect Zaha Hadid has made the project of the luxury tourist complex. The construction will start next year and will be funded by the Greek company “Lamda Development”. The investment is estimated at EUR 200 million.
This complex of up to 94,000 square meters will be placed on 3.3 acres and should be completed by 2016.
“It will  contain residential, commercial parts, business space, as well as a five-star hotel. Complex will set new standards in the domestic market in terms of architecture and construction, and the project meets the highest standards of green building,” financiers said.

The demolition of old buildings on the site and preparing the ground for construction is currently in progress. At the same time the investor is obtaining necessary permits.
Given the fact that this is very special location, the investor had to comply with the requirements of the Institute of Protection of Monuments. The Greek company officials said that they have accepted all suggestions from Institute of Protection of Cultural Heritage, because the location belongs to the the Belgrade Fortress and is part of the monument of exceptional importance for the country
