Today at the Merdare crossing, the Kosovo authorities did not allow the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and seven bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) to enter the territory of Kosovo. They were scheduled to attend the ceremonial start of the regular annual assembly of the Synod at the Patriarchate of Pec on Tuesday, RTV reports.
Due to this, the SPC Synod will not begin its work tomorrow at the Patriarchate of Pec as planned. Instead, the bishops will gather in Belgrade at the Saint Sava Temple in Vracar, where the liturgy will commence at nine o'clock.
Without any reason or explanation, Patriarch Porfirije and the bishops were turned back at the administrative crossing, where so-called rejection notices were issued to them.
